Who lives, who dies, who sketches your cast? The Broadway production of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton opens officially on August 6 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. The musical, directed by Thomas Kail, previously played off-Broadway before taking the Main Stem by storm.
To celebrate the big night, Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson created this portrait of the creator and star with his cast-mates.
In addition to Miranda front and center as the titular Founding Father, the sketch features Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr, Jonathan Groff as King George, Christopher Jackson as George Washington, Daveed Diggs as Thomas Jefferson, Okieriete Onaodowan as James Madison and Anthony Ramos as Philip Hamilton. Pictured at the top left are Jasmine Cephas Jones, Renée Elise Goldsberry and Philippa Soo as the Schuyler sisters: Peggy, Angelica and Eliza.
Broadway.com wishes a heartfelt congratulations to the cast of Hamlet Hamilton. #YayHamlet!
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
